Very Rare *Brahma Kamal* Flower Found From Biswalpada Village, Puri
Very rare ‘Brahma Kamal’ bloomed in a villager named Umakanata Mishra’s courtyard on Thursday (October 29, 2015) evening in Biswalpada village under Kanas block in Puri district. On the same night, Umakanta Mishra plucked the said rare flower and headed to Puri to offer it to Lord Jagannath, 'Brahma Kamal' is offered only in the late night hours to the Lord in the closed door.

As per various Puranic books and mentions, Creator of Universe Lord "Brahma" is believed to have been created from this bloomed ‘Brahma Kamal’ that has sprouted from the umbilical cord of Lord Vishnu. It blooms once in 12 years. Another unique feature is that it blooms only at midnight and short lived.
